Family Fun at State Railroad Museum for Independence Day Weekend

Carson City, Nevada. Despite recent reductions in the State budget for its museums which resulted in the loss of staff, Museum officials decided to keep an important Carson City tradition alive. The Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City celebrates the Independence Day weekend July 4 and 5, 2009. One of the most beautiful surviving 19th century classic American-type steam locomotives will once again be the main attraction of the Fourth of July celebration. The Virginia and Truckee Railroad’s famous Inyo locomotive takes center stage in a weekend full of family activities.

State Budget Cuts Reduce Museum Hours and Days of Operation

Carson City, Nev. The Division of Museums and History announces changes in the hours of operations of its museums in the Nevada State Museum system resulting from the State of Nevada budget cuts. The new hours of operation will take effect July 6, 2009.
