Helen Stewart Basket Donated to the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas

Las Vegas. After 82 years, an important piece of Nevada history has returned to the state. A decorative basket produced by the Moapa Paiutes in the early part of the 20th Century, collected by Las Vegas pioneer Helen J. Stewart, was recently donated to the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas by Helen's descendents Lawrence and Harriet Stay. The gift was facilitated by James Martin, Helen Stewart's great grandson, and museum volunteer Paul Carson.

Black & White Panoramas of Nevada on Display at the Legislative Building

Carson City, Nevada. Photographs by Eureka artist Deon Reynolds are on display in the halls of state government April 6 – April 24 as part of the Legislative eXhibition Series sponsored by the Nevada Arts Council.  Reynolds uses a disposable Kodak panorama camera to shoot his black and white panoramas of Nevada.

Nevada Arts Council Posts New Poems Daily to Website

Carson City, Nev. April is National Poetry Month, a national celebration of poetry established in 1996 by the Academy of American Poets. To honor all those who write poetry, read poetry, and yes, breathe poetry – the Nevada Arts Council website will highlight a new poem, Monday through Friday, during the month of April.
