Exploring Nevada - Dangberg Ranch | Print |

In this video, early day settler H.F. Dangberg himself shows us around the house and outbuildings, thanks to a Chautauqua-style performance by Dr. Michael E. Fischer, Director of the Nevada Department of Cultural Affairs. Coming out of costume, Dr. Fischer is joined by Dangberg's great-grandson, Steve Achard, who shares memories of his boyhood growing up here. Included are excerpts from priceless interviews with Dangberg sisters Ruth Achard and Margaret McDonald, conducted in 1984 by Dr. Tom King, Director of the University of Nevada Oral History Program. A rich assortment of historic images selected by photographer Conrad Buedel add yet another level of history. The video returns to 2007 for commentary by Nevada State Park Supervisor Suzanne Sturtevant, who is overseeing the transformation of the Dangberg Historic Home Ranch into Nevada's newest state park.
