As the focus on developing a green energy industry for our state continues—an agenda we fully support—OASIS declares that Nevada already boasts an existing source of energy—its creative industry. Our infrastructure is in place, our workforce is innovative, our services and programs animate communities large and small, and our business is a critical element for Nevada’s economic recovery.
Join in an exchange of ideas with your colleagues at OASIS 2010 and collectively approach the issues facing our state in the way we know best—through creative thinking and action. Professional Development Grants are available to attend OASIS 2010 for those living outside Las Vegas on a first-come, first-served basis.
OASIS 2010 features a roster of highly regarded and engaging speakers. A timely keynote by Janet Brown, Executive Director of Grantmakers in the Arts, will provide insights into the thinking of private and public funders and how arts organizations can survive and thrive in this new decade. Other presenters include David O’Fallon – director, McPhail Music Center, Minneapolis, MN; Renee Piechocki – director, Office of Public Art, Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, Pittsburgh, PA; Jon Winet – new media artist and faculty, University of Iowa School of Art & Art History; and Todd Felts – director of Graduate Studies and Assistant Professor, UNR Reynolds School of Journalism. Most conference activities will occur at the Historic Fifth Street School in downtown Las Vegas, home to the City of Las Vegas’ Office of Cultural Affairs, one of our co-sponsors.
