NEW EXHIBIT FEATURES NEVADA ARTISTS
Artwork for the Nevada’s Governor’s Arts Awards Program is on display in the NAC Carson City office through November 20, 2009 as part of the Office eXhibition Series (OXS). Each year, a commission artist is selected through a rigorous review process to create original works of art, which are then presented to each of that year’s recipients during the Governor’s Arts Awards (GAA) ceremony; one piece is also placed in the agency’s permanent collection. The GAA Commission artists have created ‘awards’ that exemplifies the diversity of Nevada’s artists and the media in which they work–including sculpture, jewelry, assemblages, paintings, ceramics and prints. GAA artists’ studios are located in both Nevada’s urban centers and some of state’s smallest rural communities. The GAA Commission Artwork exhibit features 21 commission artists included Lynda Yuroff, Barbara & Larry Domsky, Paul Ford, Elaine Parks, Maria Arango, Sidne Teske, Lynda Yuroff, Joe Zuccarini, Gail Rappa, Michael Greenspan, Robert Beckmann, Joanne Vuillemot, Ben Parks, Elaine Jason, Tom Gilbertson, JoAnn Marinez, Tom Coleman, Mary Warner, Erik Laurtizen, and Dennis Parks.
