ARTS EDUCATION PROJECT GRANTS

Available through the Arts Education Program, the Arts Education Grant supports imaginative arts education projects and artist residencies.
Postmark Deadline:  February 22, 2010
Eligible Applicants: Schools, public institutions and non-arts nonprofit organizations, and arts/cultural organizations NOT receiving a Development or Partners in Excellence (PIE) Grant from the Grants Program. Development or PIE applicants will be able to apply for arts education funding through their primary grant in the Grants Program. The Arts Education Project Grant application requires a focus on the “educating” process and the use of a teaching artist.

BETTER EDUCATION THROUGH THE ARTS GRANTS 

Quarterly grants available through the Arts Education Program, the Better Education through the Arts Grants (BETA) provide funding up to $750 for individuals and organizations whose work involves the planning, implementation, and/or evaluation of arts education programs. Grant funds encourage individuals as well as nonprofit organizations and government entities to broaden their skills through participation in career enhancement activities.

  • August 17, 2009 (for projects Oct 1-Dec 31, 2009)
  • November 16, 2009 (for projects Jan 1-March 31, 2010)
  • February 16, 2010 (for projects April 1-June 30, 2010)

Eligible Applicants: Nonprofit arts and non-arts organizations that are incorporated in the State of Nevada with 501(c)3 status, public and nonprofit schools, colleges and universities, and public institutions and agencies. If an organization has not received its 501(c)3 status prior to the grant deadline, an application may be made through the use of a Fiscal Agent. Current recipients of ALFA or AIR grants are eligible for an organization BETA Grant. An applicant may receive either one BETA grant or one Jackpot Grant per fiscal year. DESIGN ARTS GRANTS 

Available through the Grants Program, Design Arts Grants of up to $10,000 to support projects which enhance public awareness of the important role design plays in our lives, including design service, or projects in the areas of architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, and interior, industrial, graphic or fashion design. Projects should identify and demonstrate strong support from the general public and governmental units. Examples of eligible projects include:

  • Design Competitions: for the cost of fees paid to administrative and professional advisers and/or to jurors.
  • Exhibitions: the research, documentation, shipping and publication costs of exhibitions exploring the design arts.
  • Publications: the research, writing and production costs of publications exploring the design arts.
  • Workshops/Symposiums: the costs of planning and implementing workshops/ symposiums in the design arts.

nonprofit arts and non-arts organizations with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code and public institutions and agencies.

DEVELOPMENT GRANTS

Avaiable throught the Grants Program, Development Grants of up to $4,000 assist Nevada's rural and urban arts/cultural organizations in strengthening their abilities to stabilize existing operations and to broaden public access to the arts and arts resources. Funds may be requested to develop and/or present new programs, expand existing programs, or solve organization or community issues. Applicants may also apply for planning projects, consultant fees and operating support. All arts/cultural organizations applying for the first time to the Grants Program must apply in this category, no matter the age of the organization or its budget size. After receiving Development Grants for two years, arts organizations with budgets over $25,000 that have been in operation for more than three years may move up to the Partners in Excellence category with approval from the Grants Program Coordinator.

FOLKLIFE OPPORTUNITY GRANTS

Ongoing grant available through the Folklife  Program, the Folklife Opportunty Grants are non-competitive grants of up to $1,500 to support projects associated with the presentation and preservation of traditional arts, language and other folklife activities. Folklife Opportunity Grants (FOG) can provide funds to produce festivals, cultural events, concerts, gatherings, conferences and seminars (including: artist fees, publicity, facility and equipment rentals), and to provide demonstrations at museums, schools, local organizations and community centers.

Eligible Applicants: Nonprofit organizations [501(c)3 organizations and organizations using fiscal agents] and government entities, including Tribes, with annual budgets of $100,000 or less.

JACKPOT GRANTS

Quarterly grants available through the Grants Program, Jackpot Grants support new or exemplary art projects by nonprofit arts and non-arts organizations, public institutions and artists. Examples of eligible Jackpot projects for organizations include: art exhibitions performances, readings and concerts; sponsoring of arts-related workshops and conferences; and marketing and promotional activities.

NEVADA CIRCUIT RIDER GRANTS

Ongoing grant available through the Community Arts Development Program, Nevada Circuit Riders Grant is designed to provide affordable technical assistance to nonprofit arts and cultural organizations, the Nevada Circuit Riders program (NCR) is developed to address specific issues and/or challenges such as advocacy, board development, fiscal and management, fundraising, marketing programming, planning and technology etc.

Eligible Applicants: Organizations applying for an NCR Grant must be a Nevada-based non-profit arts organization, a unit of government or a public institution. An organization that has not previously applied for NAC funding will be required to submit an IRS 501c3 letter confirming legal non-profit status and copies of their board list, bylaws and articles of incorporation.

PARTNERS IN EXCELLENCE GRANTS

Annual grants available through the Grants Program, Partners in Excellence Grants (PIE) strengthen Nevada's arts infrastructure by funding cultural institutions statewide. The relationship between a state arts agency and its grantees goes beyond a funder-fundee arrangement. Together,NAC and the arts organizations it supports have increased access to and participation in the arts across the state - through quality arts programming, arts education initiatives and cultural leadership. Partners in Excellence Grants (PIE) reflect and enhance this important partnership. Two tiers of PIE grants offer funding determined by organizational budget size. Grants range from $4,000 to $30,000, and support professional salaries, artistic fees, marketing costs and other expenses consistent with the mission of the grantee. PIE applicants may also apply for funding of up to $7,500 for arts education programming through this category.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANTS

Professional Development Grant (PDG). PDGs are noncompetitive grants available throughout the year to eligible applicants on a first-come, first-served basis while funding is available. PDG grants support constituent attendance at professional development activities and are up to $650 for out-of-state activities, up to $500 for in-state activities not sponsored by NAC, and up to $350 for NAC-sponsored activities.

Eligible Applicants: Representatives of arts organizations. 

 

PDG Application

 

PROJECT GRANTS

Annual grants availabe through the Grants Program, Project Grants of up to $6,500 support arts and cultural activities of non-arts organizations and public institutions that are: (a) integral to the applicant's overall mission and goals, and (b) achieved through community partnerships. Partnerships, including those that involve sectors outside of the arts, are key to the success of activities funded by Project Grants and must be reflected in every application. Funded activities have included ethnic festivals, film series, performances, and visual arts exhibitions.

Eligible Applicants: Be incorporated as a Nevada nonprofit arts and non-arts organizations ((social service, community or health organizations) with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code and public institutions and agencies. Except for Design Arts and Jackpot Grants, this is the only category to which colleges universities, non-arts organizations and units of government other than designated arts or cultural commissions/agencies may apply.
